Xmods Repairs -  Terms and conditions

Repair Service

Kindly note we charge a R400 bench fee to open up a console and to troubleshoot it to find out where the issues are and what needs to be done. It takes workshop time to locate / identify a technical fault - This charge will be waived if the quote is accepted and the repair goes ahead

(1) Storage Fees and Uncollected Repairs

Repairs that are not collected within 3 months of the notification will incur a storage fee of R300 per month. If the repair cost, along with the accumulated storage fees, exceeds the value of the item, the item will be sold to cover the expenses.

(2) Data Disclaimer

Xmods will not be responsible for any data loss, including avatars, saved games, or other personal data. Please ensure that all data is backed up before sending your equipment in for repair.

(3) Removal of Disks and Accessories

Please ensure that all disks, accessories, and peripherals (including cables, batteries, etc.) are removed from the equipment before sending it in for repair. Xmods will not be held responsible for any lost disks, accessories, or peripherals.

(4) Surge Damage and Power Supply Units (PSU)

Please note that there is no warranty on any components damaged by surge. Due to the nature of Power Supply Units (PSUs), they are particularly vulnerable to electrical events such as surges, load shedding, and brownouts. Any PSU that stops functioning will likely be the result of such an electrical event, and as such, it cannot be covered under warranty.

(5) Fault Diagnosis and Repair Disclaimer

By submitting your console for repair, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  1. Changing Fault Symptoms: Fault symptoms may evolve throughout the repair process. A component failure may present itself differently after initial diagnosis or repair. For example, a console booked in for a "turn on, then off" error caused by a direct short to ground may have other components affected as a result of the short. Once the initial fault is repaired, additional symptoms may appear, caused by previously undetected damage.

  2. Secondary Faults: After clearing an initial fault (e.g., short circuit), other underlying issues may become evident. These can include, but are not limited to, problems with the Southbridge, APU, memory, or power management chips, which could lead to errors such as "no power."

  3. No Guarantee of Immediate Resolution: Due to the nature of hardware repairs, it is possible that the fault reported when the console was booked in may not be the only issue present. The console may be returned with a different fault than originally diagnosed, as repairs may uncover additional problems that were not previously evident.

By proceeding with the repair, you accept that the console may exhibit new or differing issues after the initial fault is addressed.

(6) Liability for Unrepairable Items

  1. Assessment and Return of Unrepairable Items: We are not liable for any damage or loss incurred to items deemed unrepairable during the assessment process or upon their return. It is understood that unrepairable items may have pre-existing damage or other factors that contributed to their current condition.

  2. Condition of Returned Items: Items that are assessed and determined to be unrepairable will be returned to you in their existing condition, without any additional repairs, assembly, or diagnostics performed.

  3. No Further Action on Unrepairable Items: Once an item is deemed unrepairable, no further repairs, assembly, or diagnostic work will be undertaken by us. The item will be returned as is.

(7) Unapproved Quotations

Where applicable , during equipment troubleshooting we may install working parts in place of suspected faulty ones in order to confirm the fault

If the quote is not approved, no further workshop time will be expended and the equipment will be returned unrepaired and unassembled and any test parts used during diagnosis will be removed. Faulty parts will not be reinstalled

(8 ) Liability for Previously Repaired or Modified Consoles

We will not accept any liability for consoles that have been previously opened, repaired, or modified by another party. Due to prior work, there may be underlying issues, low-quality repairs, existing faults, or complications that are not immediately apparent or may not display during the initial assessment.

These issues may affect the current repair process and could result in additional faults arising during the repair. As such, we are not responsible for any issues that may arise during our assessment or repair of a previously worked-on console, nor will we be responsible for restoring any prior functionality in the event of a system failure.

(9) Liability During Stress Testing

We will not be held responsible for any console failure during stress testing after a repair. If a console fails a stress test, it is understood that the fault lies with the equipment itself. As such, we cannot offer a warranty or accept liability for any failures that occur during or after the stress testing process.

(10 ) Estimates and Additional Charges

Estimates provided for repairs do not include any additional sundry charges that may arise during the repair process. Please be aware that the final cost may vary due to unforeseen circumstances, and any changes will be communicated to you prior to proceeding.

(11) Estimates Without Physical Inspection

Estimates provided without physically inspecting the equipment are based on educated assumptions. Without a hands-on assessment, it is difficult to accurately diagnose the specific issues or necessary repairs. Factors such as hidden damage, the condition of individual components, and other variables can all influence the final repair cost.

(12) Send-In Warranty After 7 Days

After 7 days from the repair date, all repairs are covered under a "send-in warranty." This means that you will be responsible for the shipping costs to send the item to us for repair, as well as the shipping costs for the return of the item once the repair is completed.

(13) Repair Warranty

All repairs are covered by a 90-day send in warranty ( You are responsible for the shipping to us ) from the date of the invoice. Please note that this warranty applies only to the specific work performed and any faults directly related to that repair. Any new or unrelated faults will be charged accordingly.

Warranty Voids in the Following Situations:

  • Surge damage

  • Physical damage

  • Removal of warranty seal or tampering with the equipment

  • Firmware issues

  • Misuse or improper handling
