Controller Drift Repair Prices
* The below is pricing to resolve drift only - If there are other faults and other items that need replacing , you must add in the price of the spares used ( labor is included in the drift repair ) - So say your thumbsticks are worn as well , the cost of a set of thumbsticks is R55 will be added to the drift repair
With the ongoing drift issues on PS5 , PS4 , Xbox controllers , we have a few options to resolve drift - The options are the type of Analog stick that is used . The labor charge remains the same across all options - If your controller is supported , it is highly recommended to go for the Gulikit sticks - they are much more accurate and have less errors than the Hall and Standard Sticks
(1) Standard Analog Sticks - These are the original analog sticks that came with your controller . They have manual potentiometer that wear down and cause drift . Use this option if you have a single analog stick they needs repair and you dont want to replace both
(2) Hall effect Analog Sticks - These use a magnet to track the movement of the stick + are drift resistant - Magnets dont wear down . Note that this will resolve the issue on the potentiometer wearing down + does not do anything against a faulty stick . This is a great repair solution and is far better and reliable that the Standard analog sticks
(3) Gulikit Electromagnetic Analog Sticks - Definitely the option to select , if your controller type is supported - These are the pinnacle of aftermarket sticks - Very low error and high accuracy . Low power consumption . Are not affected by magnetic noise + a free set of Thumbsticks supplied
Please note that in the case of the magnetic sticks ( TMR or HALL ) , we do not replace a single stick - They are replaced as a pair . So if you have a controller with a single stick drifting , you can either replace the faulty single stick with a Standard stick or you can do a controller upgrade and replace both sticks with a magnetic option
Also note that if a controller is booked in and no mention is made on which option is required , we go ahead and do a standard install with standard analog sticks - Also if you select Hall or TMR as the repair method , both sticks will be replaced
PS5 : ( + add in the cost of whatever other spares are used , if required )
Standard Analog Stick - Left or Right drift repair ( single stick ) - Standard Analog Stick Used . Total Price R305
Hall Effect Sticks - Both sticks replaced with Hall Effect Sticks - Total Price R430
Gulikit TMR Electromagnetic Pro Sticks ( Recommended Repair Option ) - Both sticks replaced with Gulikit TMR Electromagnetic Pro Sticks + a free set of Quality Thumbsticks Installed : Total Price R 615
PS4: ( + add in the cost of whatever other spares are used , if required )
Standard Analog Stick Left or Right drift repair ( single stick ) - Standard Analog Stick Used . Total Price R305
Hall Effect Sticks - Both sticks replaced with Hall Effect Sticks - Total Price R430
Silver TMR Electromagnetic Sticks - Both sticks replaced with TMR Electromagnetic Sticks - Total Repair Price R480
Xbox One controllers ( Except the Series ) ( + add in the cost of whatever other spares are used , if required )
You can't use Hall Effect Magnetic analog sticks on the above - there is magnetic interference on the controllers , so you can only use the standard analog sticks
Standard Analog Stick - Left or Right drift repair ( single stick ) - Standard Analog Stick Used . Total Price R305
Standard Analog Sticks - Both sticks replaced with Standard Analog Sticks - Total Price R410
Xbox series Controllers ( + add in the cost of whatever other spares are used , if required )
You can't use Hall Effect Magnetic analog sticks on the above - there is magnetic interference on the controllers , so you can only use the standard analog sticks or the Preferred Gulikit pro install
Standard Analog Stick - Left or Right drift repair ( single stick ) - Standard Analog Stick Used . Price Total Price R305 ( + whatever other spares are used )
Standard Analog Sticks - Both sticks replaced with Standard Analog Sticks - Total Price R410
Gulikit TMR Electromagnetic Pro Sticks ( Recommended Repair Option ) - Both sticks replaced with Gulikit TMR Electromagnetic Pro Sticks + a free set of Quality Thumbsticks Supplied : Total Price R 615
So what is the difference between the Hall Effect Magnetic Sticks and the TMR Electromagnetic Sticks ?
Summary of Differences:
Feature | Hall Effect Analog Sticks | TMR Electromagnetic Sticks |
---|---|---|
Sensing Principle | Hall Effect (Magnetic field creates a voltage) | Tunneling Magnetoresistance (Change in resistance based on magnetic field) |
Sensitivity | Generally good, but less sensitive than TMR | More sensitive, providing finer resolution |
Power Efficiency | Can be less power-efficient than TMR | Typically more power-efficient |
Durability | Very durable due to no contact between parts | Durable, but newer technology still being integrated |
Precision | Some Errors - Does not compare to the TMR | Extremely high precision and stability |
Cost | Generally cheaper and more widely used | More expensive, less common but emerging in high-end applications |
Example Uses | Game controllers (PlayStation, Xbox), drones | High-precision applications, possibly newer gaming tech |
In essence, while Hall Effect sensors are well-established and good reliability and durability , TMR sensors provide higher precision , sensitivity and less errors than the Hall Effect
